Welcome back to another Music Mention post. My last post in this series on  Sairat (Marathi)  was quite popular among my readers. This time around we'll be talking about a gujarati movie. I've picked this movie for a couple of reasons: 1. Sachin-Jigar composition 2. Arijit Singh 3. Produced by Abhishek Jain who has directed some of my favourite gujarati movies like  Kevi Rite Jaish (How Will I Go)  and  Bey Yaar (Yo Pal!) 4. Produced by Anurag Kashyap 5. Music Review | Ae Dil Hai Mushkil | Pritam

I Hate It! Yes, I hate the current trend of releasing individual songs until the release of the movie. It all started with Baar Baar Dekho , where Kala Chashma was released even before the trailer was launched. A similar strategy was implemented with this album too. The title track and Bulleya were launched (on 6th Sept and 15th Sept respctively) before the trailer (22nd Sept). Following which every other song was released within 15 days of the previous release. The last one being Cutiepie (24th Oct) that was release just 4 days before the movie release. And the entire album was released 2 days before the movie released on 26th October. Although, it is a really wise move to use songs as a form of viral marketing until the release. However, releasing individual songs over a long stretch of time periods defeats the purpose of the album. Anyways, enough of the rant. I was really looking forward to review this album. Music Review | A Flying Jatt | Sachin-Jigar

I am not so much interested in the movie. The only reason I chose to listen to this album was Sachin-Jigar. I've been a big fan of their music. Do I have high expectations from this album? Well, it's conflicting - Tiger Shroff movie makes me question my expectation but I also know that Sachin-Jigar will not compromise.  So, without further ado, let's get into it and see if this album can set it's songs flying like the Jatt himself or falls flat on the ground Listen on Saavn: Listen to A-Flying-Jatt-2016 on Saavn (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) A Flying Jatt - Title Track Lyrics : Vayu & Raftaar Singers : Raftaar, Mansheel Gujral, Tanishkaa  I like this song. Period. Now let's get into one thing that bothered me. I understand this song is dedicated to the kids (even though lyrics have alcohol references), but a 8-year old girl (Tanishkaa) singing the following lines is just wrong - "Flying jatt mera BFF hai,  Aur iklot

It talks about the Marvadi  dance form of ghoomar while being a ghoomar itself . This song has been out for a while now. The song paces up appropriately. I started to swing my head to the beats and ended up listening to this song for 45 minutes straight. During those 45 minutes, I enjoyed Rajasthani folk,  Shreya Ghoshal's intoxicating voice,  watching Deepika dance,  dancing to the beats myself(reminded me of Navratri)  and Swaroop Khan.  It is not often we get to hear Swaroop Khan. [FULL ALBUM] Music Review | Raees | Ram Sampath, JAM8

The hype is real for this movie. Does it matter to me? No. What matters to me is whether Ram Sampath and JAM8 managed to overpower that hype with their music. We'll find that out at the end of this post. Album Release Date: 23rd January 2017 (Click on the song title to play it on Saavn) Laila Main Laila Music Composer: Ram Sampath Singer: Pawni Pandey Lyrics: Indeevar What romantic movies does to women, porn does to men. This song brings together both of these - king of romance and (ex)-queen of porn (no disrespect but it seems that was the intention here). Does the song fail to impress in terms of music (obviously it has already impressed in other terms)? The catchphrase tune and the choir parts are really addictive. This song doesn't give Pawni Pandey (Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs finalist) a chance to showcase her singing prowess with overpowering music but it does open up a lot of opportunities for her.
