Music Review | Meri Pyaari Bindu | Sachin-Jigar

After making the country move booties to their beats with A Flying Jatt, Sachin-Jigar return back with a movie about music. About an era where mixtapes were popular. An era where one could have conversations with just lyrics of the songs. Things to look forward to apart from the music - Ayushmann and Parineeti's singing.

Album Release Date: 19th April 2017

Yeh Jawaani Teri
Singers: Nakash Aziz, Jonita Gandhi
Lyrics: Kausar Munir
The song starts off and you realize "Wait, is this the FRIENDS theme song? Is this song a hindi ripoff of it?" You continue to think about it and by that time the song has completely changed it's course. This song talks about all the masti we have done with our friends in school when puberty hit us. Though this song features two adults, the lyrics tell a different story.

Haareya
Singers: Arijit Singh
Lyrics: Priya Saraiya
Last year it was Channa Mereya, this year it's Haareya. Arijit Singh always tries different type of songs. This one I was able to predict what he would sing the next line. Specifically in the first antara  I knew he would go on a higher scale the second time he sings "Khuli aankhon se dekha woh, Haseen khwab hai tu.Dil mein jo utar jaaye woh, Pyaari baat hai tu". Why and how did that happen? Do you remember the songs Sadi Gali (Nautanki Saala) and Paani Da Rang (Vicky Donor)? This song is on the same lines with guitar strums and mid scale chorus. For this very reason I strongly feel this song belongs to Ayushmann Khurrana and he should have sung it instead. It is surprising that he didn't get any song to sing but Parineeti got.

Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin
Singers: Parineeti Chopra
Lyrics: Kausar Munir
I like how this song complements the previous one. Haareya was Ayushman's version of expressing love, this one is Parineeti's version. Though, I must make it a point that these are two completely different songs. Parineeti perfectly hit the low notes with her soothing voice. However, she seemed to struggled a bit with the high notes. I wonder why those weren't corrected digitally.

Iss Tarah
Singers: Clinton Cerejo, Dominique Cerejo
Lyrics: Kausar Munir
See, this is what I expect when I see a Sachin-Jigar composition. Something different, something fresh, something unexpected. I feel so alive from within after listening to this song. The chemistry between the husband-wife duo showed in their singing. My favourite line from the song is "Mujhe tairna nahi aata, Tujhe doobna nahi aata". There are many such contrasting lines in the song that depict how differentiating personalities both the characters in the movie are and at the same time it also tells that they'll be there to help each other when necessary.

Khol De Baahein
Singers: Monali Thakur
Lyrics: Kausar Munir, Rana Mazumder
All the precious gems are saved towards the end of this album. I can just marry the chirpy, innocent voice of Monali Thakur. It's so sweet. The Bengali lyrics adds to the mithaas. Must listen song of the album, along with the other ones I'll recommend below. 😛

Did you also have high expectations from Sachin-Jigar albums or is it just me? I found this album underwhelming. It didn't feel like they owned this album. Now, this doesn't mean I did not like the album. The songs were really good. Additionally what I liked is that there are no song remakes in association to title of the movie Meri Pyaari Bindu. Something different from the junk we have to listen to these days. So, here are my favourites from the album:
Haareya
Iss Tarah
Khol De Baahein

That is all I have for this album now. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!!
