Omung Kumar returns back with another biopic after Mary Kom. Mary Kom had its share of really good songs but people went in for the story. Maybe it'll be similar with Sarbjit - the songs will be integrated in the story itself and will take the story forward. What are my expectations before listening to the album? This album has ten songs. It is going to be a really long review. Hold on your seats tight. A lot of different  renowned singers have playbacked for this album. Looking forward to those particular songs. Hoping to find a few surprises in the album too Listen to Sarbjit-2016 on Saavn *3.5 hours later* My review below will be unbiased by the fact the it is going to be a long album and will be biased towards good music. *fingers crossed* Salamat Singers: Arijit Singh, Tulsi Kumar Lyrics:  Rashmi Virag I like the transition of background beats with each verse. It starts with payal beats in the initial verse, followed by addition of ma

We all know that Emraan Hashmi has a Midas presence. Any song he features in turns out to be a big hit. Most of the credit goes to Pritam for amazing music arrangements. The duo returns back after a long time; but with just one song in the album. Wait... What? The album is not composed by Pritam? Hmmm... Time to set the expectations two notches lower. From the looks of the trailer I saw I am presuming the album should be a mashup of Jannat  + Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. Without further ado let's go ahead and listen this album Listen to Azhar-2016 on Saavn *2 hours later* My review below will be unbiased by the fact the I am interested in just the one song by Pritam and will be biased towards good music. *fingers crossed* Bol Do Na Zara Singers: Armaan Malik Lyrics:  Rashmi Virag The chorus of the song goes like this " Bol do na zara,  Dil mein jo hai chhipa,  Main kisi se kahunga nahi" . Without even getting into the the actual story of t

What makes music? Musical notes or swara or solfège . What are these exactly? Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni or Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti If you don't know what I am talking about, I feel sorry for you and you have a lot to catch on! To give a little context here, swara are the alphabets for music. Appropriate collection of alphabets that defines something is called a noun - which in music is called a Raaga. Every raaga  has its own set of swara  and meaning. When a noun combines with other types of words like prepositions, articles, adjectives we get a sentence. In musical terms, when you combine a raaga with rhythm ( taal ), tempo ( laya ) and lyrics ( bol ) we get a song. This is the basis of Indian classical music. Indian classical music has two variants: 1. Hindustani Music 2. Carnatic Music What is the difference you may ask? Here is the Wikipedia link. Check it out yourself.  Indian Classical Music Before you criticize me for not writing anything entertaining, let me quickly

The last time you visited this series you read about audio cassettes. In case you came to this article from one of my other articles or just stumbled upon in the search list, you can click here to read it now. Before we move forward in time, I forgot to mention one memory from the audio cassette era. I once, had audio cassettes (notice the plural!) of the movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. These were not the regular music album cassettes. They had the entire movie in audio format. Kind of the audio books we have now (I used today's technology back then.. I had swag :P). Apparently the movie was such a huge blockbuster that they released this to extrapolate their revenue post the success of the movie. The question is why did I purchase the cassette despite watching the movie in theatre? Two point answer: 1. I did not purchase it. My dad got it as a complimentary gift from one of its distributors 2. I reached late at the theatre and missed the beginning so this is how I managed to

Ok..... So..... Ummmmm..... I don't know where to start. :-( Anyways, so Tiger Shroff returns back with his second movie - another action movie. What expectations do I have from this album in terms of music? I'll play it safe and say very low. The two music videos he featured in these two years had no action sequences and those turned out  chartbusters. You get what I am trying to say? Listen to Baaghi-2016 on Saavn My review below will be unbiased by preconceived notions about that fact that it is an action movie and will be biased towards good music. *fingers crossed* Sab Tera Singers: Armaan Malik, Shraddha Kapoor Lyrics:  Sanjeev Chaturvedi Did you see that red colored font right there? Yes, she has actually sung her own song. Again!! The beauty of this song lies in the video. Without the video, it is a regular romantic melody with stereotypical lyrics added with some ordinary musical arrangements. I don't know why but the chorus gave a f
