Music Review | Rangoon | Vishal Bhardwaj

Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar ji together have given some amazing lyrical songs in all of Vishal Bhardwaj's movies. The songs in his movies are not meant for commercial appeal (they often get though). They composed so as to take the story forward. With that thought in mind, let's get into this music album and review it! Album Release Date: 18th January 2017 (Click on the song title to listen to it on Saavn) Bloody Hell Singer: Sunidhi Chauhan Lyrics: Gulzar The English verbiage in the songs from 40s was not that strong as it is right now. That is the reason you can find the lyrics amateurish. Even with broken English, this song is really catchy. The nakhre and adaakat - Sunidhi gives them all. The song describes very risque stuff as per 1940s standards. This song really shines when heard along with the video. Music Review | TVF Humorously Yours (Web Series) | Vaibhav Bundhoo

Image
Last one and half years has seen a surge in web mini series. All of them targeting the ' t raditionally a verse t o t elevision' y outh ( t.a.t.t.y. ). So much has been the impact of these web series that even the mainstream players like YRF and MTV are creating content on YouTube. However, the most ingenious and the pioneer of web series have been The Viral Fever (TVF). They have really managed to match the wavelength of t.a.t.t.y. with all their web series. Apart from their amazing plot, TVF's content is also known for out-of-the-box soundtrack. I decided to start reviewing music for web series last week and was contemplating whether to start with my favorite one or the latest one (the struggle is real). To make my decision easy TVF launched the original soundtrack for their latest TVF Humoursly Yours .  I would've had done a Music Mention of my favourite music album among web series had TVF not released this one. But since it's officially released, this counts a

YouTube Discovery | Ep. 06 | Mahesh Raghvan - Indian Classical Versions

Image
Hello folks! After a long hiatus I am back with the 6th episode in the series of YouTube Discovery. To give a quick recap about my previous posts - in the 4th episode we had Tushar Lall (Indian Jam Project) discussing Indo-Western Fushion  with us. Following which Vidya Vox talked about her Mashup Covers in 5th episode. Indian music is so vast that everybody gets chance to create their own music. Continuing on the same thread, I'd like to talk about the technological advancements in the field of music. Technology has made musicians play end number of instruments with just one device. This reminds me of my Indian classical training days as a 10 year old kid. I had just finished learning taals and now had to learn raag geets which comprises of sur and taal which meant there had to be a harmonium and a tabla playing when I was singing. I didn't know either of those at that time and my teacher could play only one of those at a time. My 10 year old brain wondered if I would ever

[FULL ALBUM] Music Review | Jolly LLB 2 | Manj Musik, Chirrantan Bhatt, Meet Bros, Vishal Khurana

Reviewing music for content centric movies can sometimes throw you some surprises. I'll be looking out for those surprises to be pleasantly surprised. Hopefully! Album Release Date: 13th January 2017 (Click on the song title to play it on Saavn) Go Pagal Music Composer: Manj Musik Singer: Raftaar, Nindy Kaur Lyrics: Manj Musik, Raftaar Just song is just... Meh! And you know what's less than 'meh!' part about the song? The chorus - 'Go Pagal'. These are just two words in the entire chorus. Let this be skipped. Not even worth the hype (if there was any at all) Check out the lyrics of this song here:  http://www.lyricsmint.com/2017/01/go-pagal-lyrics-jolly-llb-2.html Bawara Mann Music Composer: Chirrantan Bhatt Singer: Jubin Nautiyal, Neeti Mohan Lyrics: Junaid Wasi Chirrantan Bhatt has previously composed really good melody, one of which being my personal favourite  Har Kisi Ko (Boss) . This one is another sweet song from his studio

[FULL ALBUM] Music Review | Raees | Ram Sampath, JAM8

The hype is real for this movie. Does it matter to me? No. What matters to me is whether Ram Sampath and JAM8 managed to overpower that hype with their music. We'll find that out at the end of this post. Album Release Date: 23rd January 2017 (Click on the song title to play it on Saavn) Laila Main Laila Music Composer: Ram Sampath Singer: Pawni Pandey Lyrics: Indeevar What romantic movies does to women, porn does to men. This song brings together both of these - king of romance and (ex)-queen of porn (no disrespect but it seems that was the intention here). Does the song fail to impress in terms of music (obviously it has already impressed in other terms)? The catchphrase tune and the choir parts are really addictive. This song doesn't give Pawni Pandey (Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs finalist) a chance to showcase her singing prowess with overpowering music but it does open up a lot of opportunities for her. Music Review | Ok Jaanu | A. R. Rahman

The movie as well as the music album is a remake of Tamil movie 'O Kadhal Kanmani' ( Oh Love, Apple of my Eye ).  To be honest, I did not anticipate this album to be so popular even though A. R. Rahman has composed it (remember Lekar Hum Deewana Dil ). Maybe 'The Humma Song' partly ruined that anticipation. However, all this doesn't matter. When it's A. R. Rahman you are bound to get an amazing music album. So without further ado, let's get right into it! Album Release Date: 4th January 2017 (Click on the song title to play it on Saavn) Ok Jaanu Title Track Singer: Srinidhi Venkatesh, A.R. Rahman Lyrics: Gulzar 'Ok Jaanu' the name sounds so sweet that you'd expect a Saathiya  type title track. But you are welcomed with a fast paced peppy duet between A. R. Rahman and his sound engineer turned playback singer Srinidhi. The songs talks about - 'Ok Dear, take a chill pill!'. Check out the lyrics of this song here:  http:/

Music Review | Kaabil | Rajesh Roshan

The last time Rajesh Roshan composed music for a movie was four years back. The last time he gave a hit music album was seven years back. At the age of 61 and in the age of virality can he manage create music that are loved by the  Kala Chashma and Kar Gayi Chull generation of listeners. I like to hope so. We'll only find out at the end of this review. So without further ado, let's get right into it! Album Release Date: 22nd December 2016 (Click on the song title to play it on Saavn) Kaabil Hoon Singer: Jubin Nautiyal, Palak Muchhal Lyrics: Nasir Faraaz Apart from the trumpet piece, the entire song feels like 2000s song. The best part of the song is the clean lyrics. I liked the song to some extent (not on my repeat mode though). Listen to this song if you want to feel the 2000s nostalgia. Check out the lyrics of this song here:  http://www.lyricsted.com/kaabil-hoon-lyrics/ Haseeno Ka Deewana Singer: Raftaar, Payal Dev Lyrics: Kumaar This song is

Welcome to the year of 2017. In a fresh start before we take the things forward, let us take a moment to look back on the year of 2016.
