Music Review | Rock On 2 | Shankar Ehsaan Loy

Back to back Shankar Ehsaan Loy reviews on this blog. Previous one being Mirzya . Despite this album being a sequel to one of the most loved albums, I am going to review it as any other album and not as a franchise. Looking forward to Shraddha Kapoor singing. Listen on Saavn: Listen to Rock-On-2-2016 on Saavn (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) Jaago Singer: Farhan Akhtar, Siddharth Mahadevan Lyrics: Javed Akhtar Even though the song is about waking up and knowing your rights, that is not the purpose of this song in the album. This song doesn't want to 'wake you up'. Towards the end of the song if you started head banging (even if it means just in your mind) then the song was successful in making you feel of the kind of music you'd be encountering in this album. Farhan Akhtar is not a soft singer. He has a coarse and realistic voice and that's what I expected and got in this song. Same goes with the lyrics. They are neither melodic nor

YouTube Discovery | Ep. 05 | Vidya Vox - Mashup Covers

Hello people! Welcome back to another episode in my 'YouTube Discovery' series of posts. It has been a long time since last episode. In case you forgot what I talked about and to whom I talked to in my previous episode,  here is the link to it.  Go ahead and click the link. I'll wait for you on this page before we move ahead. Done? Perfect!(I know a lot of you didn't do it. You, rebel.) So the reason I insisted you on reading my previous episode was because both these artists, though working with two different types of music, have successfully managed to build a bridge between a vast and complex spectrum of western and Indian music. Before you go all confused, let us take one step at a time and try to break this down for the ease of understanding. Firstly, what is a mashup ? In it's raw form, it is a mixture or fusion of disparate elements. In recent years, this definition has been successfully translated into music. In the world of music, a mashup song is

Music Review | Mirzya - Dare To Love | Shankar Ehsaan Loy

The trailer looked picturesque. Whenever there are movies with such artistic and colorful cinematography, the music is bound to be unorthodox and refreshing. This album has a total of 15 tracks (9 songs and 6 poems). I will be splitting this review correspondingly. This album also features a lot of non popular singers and I will try to give out references to their previous work wherever possible. So, without further ado, let's explore this album together. Listen on Saavn: Listen to Mirzya---Dare-To-Love-2016 on Saavn (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) Mirzya Singers: Daler Mehndi, Sain Zahoor, Akhtar Chanal Zahri, Nooran Sisters  Lyrics: Gulzar This is the title song of the album and I couldn't have heard a better song to start this review. First and the foremost thing - the music of this song speaks volumes of the rich culture it is portraying. One can just close their eyes and will be automatically teleported to that era (even though I don'

Music Review | M. S. Dhoni - The Untold Story | Amaal Mallik

Cricket is religion in India, so is Bollywood. The two have come together in the past. They come together again with a movie based on India's most loved and successful cricket captain - Mahendra Singh Dhoni. So, without further ado, let's get into it and see if this album is able to build the same love among masses. Listen on Saavn: Listen to M.S.-Dhoni---The-Untold-Story-2016 on Saavn (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) Besabriyaan Singer: Armaan Malik Lyrics: Manoj Muntashir The song talks about impatience to move away from current mundane and low-key life. One needs enough motivation from inside to do that and Manoj Muntashir nails it with lyrics in bringing out this motivation. Armaan Malik showcases his singing versatility yet. Amaal Mallik has kept the most important song of the movie surprisingly underwhelming. The song peaks on high notes just before the chorus and the chorus itself is soft spoken. Kaun Tujhe Singer: Palak Muchhal Lyr

Music Mention | Wrong Side Raju (Gujarati) | Sachin-Jigar

If you are a gujju  or understand gujarati language, you can also check out my video review for the music album of Wrong Side Raju here: If not, read on! The page is all yours. Welcome back to another Music Mention post. My last post in this series on  Sairat (Marathi)  was quite popular among my readers. This time around we'll be talking about a gujarati movie. I've picked this movie for a couple of reasons: 1. Sachin-Jigar composition 2. Arijit Singh 3. Produced by Abhishek Jain who has directed some of my favourite gujarati movies like  Kevi Rite Jaish (How Will I Go)  and  Bey Yaar (Yo Pal!) 4. Produced by Anurag Kashyap 5. I am a gujju :P Let me reiterate it again. This is a special case of my music reviews. It is more of a music mention than a review. I liked something and I want others to be aware of it too. (that sounds like the social media culture of this generation of kids :P) (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) Satrangi Re   (It'
