Music Review | Meri Pyaari Bindu | Sachin-Jigar

Image
After making the country move booties to their beats with  A Flying Jatt , Sachin-Jigar return back with a movie about music. About an era where mixtapes were popular. An era where one could have conversations with just lyrics of the songs. Things to look forward to apart from the music - Ayushmann and Parineeti's singing. Album Release Date: 19th April 2017 (Click on the song title to listen to it on Saavn) Yeh Jawaani Teri Singers:  Nakash Aziz , Jonita Gandhi Lyrics:  Kausar Munir The song starts off and you realize "Wait, is this the FRIENDS theme song? Is this song a hindi ripoff of it?" You continue to think about it and by that time the song has completely changed it's course. This song talks about all the masti we have done with our friends in school when puberty hit us. Though this song features two adults, the lyrics tell a different story. Haareya Singers:  Arijit Singh Lyrics:  Priya Saraiya Last year it was Channa Mereya, this year it&

Music Review | Begum Jaan | Anu Malik

Vidya Balan returns in a powerful female-centric role in a movie that questions right to freedom even after being independent. Anu Malik returns back to compose this album after a successful stint with Dum Laga Ke Haisha. Asha Bhosle ji returns after so many years. I tried digging her last payback song in Bollywood prior to this but was unsuccessful. Let me know if you find it out. So with that being said, let's get started with this review. Album Release Date: 6th April 2017 (Click on the song title to listen to it on Saavn) Prem Mein Tohre Singers: Asha Bhosle Lyrics: Kausar Munir At the age of 83, most people are just waiting to drag another day in their life; not Asha Bhosle  ji. She actually personifies the first lines of the song - "Prem mein tohre aisi padi main,  Purana zamana naya ho gaya". Anu Malik brings yet another Indian classical song for the masses after  Moh Moh Ke Dhaage (Dum Laga Ke Haisha) . Since this is a classical song from one of the r

Music Review | Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion | M. M. Keeravani

For last year and half we all have been waiting to know why Katappa killed Baahubali. We'll get our answers this month when the second part of this epic franchise releases. Not just the movie, I enjoyed the music too.  Dhivara  was my favourite song from the first part. When the story is compelling, music automatically blends in it. That's what I am looking for in this album - a story to explore. This time around we have a hindi album too along with it's original telugu counterpart. Since, I don't know telugu I have interpreted the lyrics for the hindi album. That being said, I've listened to this album in both the languages. Album Release Date: 5th April 2017 (Click on the song title to listen to it on Saavn) Jiyo Re Bahubali / Sahore Baahubali Singers (H): Daler Mehndi, Sanjeev Chimmalgi, Ramya Behara Lyrics (H): Manoj Muntashir Singers (T): Daler Mehndi, M.M. Keeravaani, Mounima Lyrics (T): K. Shivashakthi Datta,Dr. K. Ramakrishna As soon as Daler M

Music Review Catch Up | January-March 2017

2017 has had a good start in terms of music in Bollywood. I try to review all the music albums as they come by. Unfortunately, not all are covered. So I created this segment of music reviews to catch up on the missed ones. As you can see from the above poster, there are eight albums to be reviewed from the first quarter of 2017. A lot of you readers might not be aware about some of these movies, hence I have provided IMDb links to plot summary. So without further ado, let's get right into it! (Songs highlighted in RED are my picks from the each album. You can just listen to these and get the feel of entire album in case you are short on time or feel like you have better things to do in life than listen to music) (Click on the movie name to listen to the songs on Saavn) Irada Music: Neeraj Shridhar Lyrics: Sameer Anjan Plot Summary:  IMDb Irada is a rock song sung by Dubai based Indian rock singer Nikhil Uzgare. The song talks about how he is determined ( irada ) to e
