Music Review | Happy Bhag Jayegi | Sohail Sen

Image
The last full-fledged album we heard by Sohail Sen was Gunday which had it's share of decent songs (Remember, Tune Maari Entriyaan ?). So has been the case with a lot of his previous albums. There have always been two-three terrific songs in his albums. Will be looking out for those in this one too. So, without further ado, let's get into it and see if this album can maintain my 'Happy' mood or will  bhagao my mood just like how 'Happy' ran away. Listen on Saavn: Listen to Happy-Bhag-Jayegi-2016 on Saavn (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) Happy Oye Singers: Harshdeep Kaur, Shahid Mallya Lyrics: Mudassar Aziz "You cannot stop her. The more you try to stop her, the more she'll rebel and do her own." 'Happy' is such a soft and mellow name and this song is about her. The songs starts with heavy bass guitar and then you have Harshdeep Kaur and Shahid Mallya - two of the very powerful singers. What an irony! The

Curious Thoughts | Ep. 01 | Are musical covers on YouTube (India) becoming monotonous?

DISCLAIMER: This post is not a rant. It is more of those curious thoughts that make you ponder for a while and then in no time you end up with more questions than answers. I appreciate all the effort and hard work YouTube artists put into their content and thoroughly enjoy their knowledge and talent in music. Keep up the GOOD work! I am constantly in search of new and fresh musical content on YouTube. During my search I've come across really talented artists, some of which I've got a chance to talk to and you can check out those conversations with Lisa Mishra on Live Covers , Siddharth Slathia on Indian Classical Music Tutorials , Saurabh Shetye on Acoustic Loop Covers  and Tushar Lall on Indo-Western Fusion . Over a period of time I realized that most of the videos by musical artists on YouTube (India) are covers of soft Bollywood numbers. Anything other than melody songs are a rare commodity to find on YouTube nowadays. This made me wonder - what could be the reason for s

Music Review | Dishoom | Pritam

Image
I've been waiting for this album since I saw Jacqueline Fernandez make her moves and fell in love with her, again. I have very high expectations from this album. Pritam is the King of Musical Arrangements. No matter how much people criticize him for taking inspirations from other songs, his albums are always topping the charts.  So, without further ado, let's get into it and see if this album can dishoom out all the nightmares of bad songs I have listened to this year. Listen on Saavn: Listen to Dishoom-2016 on Saavn (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) Sau Tarah Ke Lyrics: Kumaar Singers: Jonita Gandhi, Amit Mishra WARNING: Just a little biased after watching the video featuring Jacqueline Fernandez. As the song started, my feet started tapping slowly moving upwards, my shoulders starting shrugging. Then came the drop before the chorus and ran an adrenaline rush in my body. Got all pumped up opened the lyrics of the song and started singing a

Music Review | Rustom | Arko Pravo Mukherjee, Raghav Sachar, Ankit Tiwari, Jeet Gannguli

So I went back to 2016 B.C. in my previous review of  Mohenjo Daro . I started to move forward in time and then I stuck in the 1950s following a love story turned murder mystery of naval officer Rustom Pavri. With a huge spectrum of drama I got to witness, I also witnessed some quality music throughout the situation. So, without further ado, let's get into it and see if this is album caught my attention as much as the whole scenario did! Listen on Saavn: Listen to Rustom-2016 on Saavn (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) Tere Sang Yaara Music Director: Arko Pravo Mukherjee Lyrics: Manoj Muntashir  Singers: Atif Aslam That piano arrangement in the beginning got me hooked on at that very moment. Atif's vocals are not overpowering the music. They are soft and mellow. And again, this is a template romantic song of the album as it has been the case with Akshay's recent better movies -  Soch Na Sake (Airlift) ,  Main Tumse Pyar Nahi Karta (Baby) ,  S

Music Review | Great Grand Masti | Sanjeev-Darshan, Sharib-Toshi, Superbia

The movie is releasing this Friday. Pirated copy is already available online. The entire music album was released just last week. With how many songs? FOUR. Mehh!! Alright, without further ado, let's get into it and see if there's any masti available in its songs. Listen on Saavn: Listen to Great-Grand-Masti-2016 on Saavn (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) Teri Kamar Ko Music Director: Sanjeev-Darshan Lyrics: Kumaar Singers: Sanjeev Rathod, Darshan Rathod, Kanika Kapoor The focus of this song is the vocals and hence most of the beats are suppressed. The chorus loop is quite catchy but is a tongue twister and difficult to memorize :P That's the only good part about the song. I wish female portions were equally naughty and catchy too and not as dumb as "Darling pehle gaadi mein ghuma,  Darling ik diamond dila,  Darling mummy-daddy se mila,  Phir jo bhi chahe kar le " Resham Ka Rumaal Music Director: Sharib-Toshi Lyr

Music Review | Mohenjo Daro | A. R. Rahman

Image
It's been a long time since I last reviewed a music album. It was a dry spell in terms of music releases last month. What did I do all this time? Well, I went back to 2016 B.C. to witness the great civilization of Mohenjo Daro. What did I bring back? Lots of cultural and tribal music by A.R. Rahman to be reviewed. Alright, without further ado, let's get into it and see if this is a masterpiece beyond time and space (in literal sense). Listen on Saavn Listen to Mohenjo-Daro-2016 on Saavn (Click on the song title to play it in YouTube) Mohenjo Mohenjo Lyrics: Javed Akhtar Singers: A.R. Rahman, Arijit Singh, Bela Shende, Sanah Moidutty Welcome to the land of dreams - Mohenjo Daro. The sun and the moon have already witnessed it and made it a fun-fair of colors. This is the title song of the movie as well as the city anthem. It is a tribal song where people are celebrating festive season. Arijit Singh, surprisingly is the lead singer in this unorthodox song. He ha
