Music Review | Tiger Zinda Hai | Vishal-Shekhar, Julius Packiam

Neither does bhai need an introduction nor does music albums of his movies. So without any introduction let's get started already!

Swag Se Swagat
Singers: Vishal Dadlani, Neha Bhasin
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
With such bass heavy beats and powerful voices by Vishal Dadlani and Neha Bhasin, the lyrics of this song are surprisingly humble for Salman Khan standards. This song is an earworm, partly because it has been playing everywhere and partly because of looping beats. This is one of those F-the-lyrics-and-dance-to-beats song.

Dil Diyan Gallan
Singers: Atif Aslam
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
Some songs are worth melting for. This is one of those rare gems in a Salman Khan movie when music, singing and lyrics blend in beautifully. This is THE Atif Aslam from Coke Studio that Bollywood is yet to explore - a combination of sufi, qawwali and romance.

Zinda Hai
Singers: Sukhwinder Singh, Raftaar
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
*smh* The first two songs had set a good bar. This song, being the title track, might have ruined the entire album for me. Either you have Sukhwinder Singh or you have Raftaar in a song. You can't have best of both the worlds.

Daata Tu
Singers: Shreya Ghoshal
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
I loved the simplicity with which this song started off. It is a simple prayer song. However, as the song progressed, the background choir increased the tempo. I was mildly dissatisfied with the execution.

Tera Noor
Singers: Jyoti Nooran
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
For the first time ever, Nooran sisters got separated in a song. This song features only Jyoti Nooran. It is still as powerful. With a powerful voice comes the great responsibility of matching up with a powerful music and what better than rock music. To be honest, either of the Nooran sisters could pull off an entire song without music.

Dil Diyan Gallan (Unplugged)
Singers: Neha Bhasin
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil
The fluidity in variations that Atif Aslam brings in soft songs, probably Neha Bhasin cannot match it. She can either go all out with Dhunki (Mere Brother Ki Dulhan) or go all mellow with Jag Ghoomeya (Sultan). If I did not have Atif Aslam's version to compare to, this would still have been one of my favourites from the album.

Now that I have reviewed all the songs, time for the actual review of the album. This music album mimics the music album of Sultan. The lead actor, the director and the music director duo are the same for both the movies. Let me break down the similarities:

  • One viral song sung by Vishal Dadlani with a combination of Hindi and English words in the title
  • A title track without a chorus
  • A romantic song with a Punjabi title and sung by a Pakistani singer
  • An unplugged female version of the romantic song sung by Neha Bhasin
  • A song by Nooran sisters
Music albums of Salman Khan movies are formulaic. If it worked the previous time, it WILL work this time as well. So here are the songs that worked for me in this album:
Swag Se Swagat
Dil Diyan Gallan
Tera Noor

That is all I have for this album now. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!!
