Music Review | Mukkabaaz | Nucleya, Rachita Arora, Vineet Kumar Singh

[1]

Just as Emraan Hashmi and amazing music go hand in hand. Same can be said for Anurag Kashyap's movies. The last time he handed over the mantle of music to a female composer, the album created history and has a cult following even today. While rest of you'll get excited for his movies, I get excited for the music in his movies. So let us get started.

Music Release Date: 21st December 2017

Paintra/Paintra Extended Version
Music Composer: Nucleya
Singers: DIVINE, Ravi Kishan
Lyricist: Vineet Kumar Singh
How have I been living my life without listening to such an amazing Hindi rap song until now? I have always wished for a proper Hindi rap song from Bollywood. Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah are just pseudo rappers. Real rap songs have deep meaning. DIVINE has drawn the first blood with this song in the Hindi rap genre that is going to rise over next couple of years. This song motivates you to make a move ahead in life. Everybody talks and talks some more but actions speak louder than words. DIVINE's singing completely shadowed Nucleya's music. The lines by Ravi Kishan in the extended version just adds fuel to the already existing fireball of energy

Mushkil Hai Apna Meil Priye
Music Composer: Rachita Arora
Singers: Brijesh Shandilya
Lyricist: Dr. Sunil Jog
This song draws personified comparisons between the guy and the girl. They are as different as chalk and cheese and the comparisons are extreme. The lyrics are shuddh Hindi which makes it unique and fun to listen to. I like this kind of experimental music Anurag Kashyap opts for in his movies.

Bahut Hua Samman/Bahut Hua Samman (EDM)
Music Composer: Rachita Arora
Singers: Swaroop Khan, Jaspreet Jasz
Lyricist: Hussain Haidry
As the song progressed, it reminded me of Jiya Tu Bihar Ke Lala (GoW). I was surprised at Swaroop Khan struggle to hit high notes. It is a passable song. The EDM version is a big disaster. Save yourself and listen to Paintra again instead.

Bohot Dukha Mann
Music Composer: Rachita Arora
Singers: Rachita Arora, Dev Arijit
Lyricist: Hussain Haidry
Wow. What a drastic change of track from the previous songs. There are songs that are SUNG by DIVINE, then there are songs that ARE divine. This is the latter. This Indian classical song uses night as a metaphor for sadness.

Chhipkali
Music Composer: Rachita Arora
Singers: Vijay Arora
Lyricist: Hussain Haidry
This song uses chameleon as a metaphor to talk about one of the character's traits. This song reminded me of Ek Bagal Me Chaand Hoga (GoW). This song has a vintage feel to it backed by modern music.

Saade Teen Baje
Music Composer: Rachita Arora
Singers: Khushbu Raj
Lyricist: Hussain Haidry
One of those contextual folk song that I can easily draw parallels to Taar Bijli (GoW). Apparently, it is sung by one of very popular female Bhojpuri singer - Khushbu Raj (never heard of her or her work)

Adhura Main
Music Composer: Vineet Kumar Singh
Singers: Deepak Thakur
Lyricist: Vineet Kumar Singh
If I would have not read the name of the singer, he would have been easily mistaken for a female singer. He had sung a song in Gangs of Wasseypur too with similar setting of just his voice and harmonium. This is not a song. It is more of a riyaaz session. The composer and lyricist of this song is the lead actor himself.

Rachita Arora was given an opportunity and she nailed it not only with her compositions but also with her singing. This movie opens up a lot of opportunity for her in years to come. I wouldn't say this album is perfect. It is far from perfect. When you have so many songs, the probability of having a perfect album exponentially decreases. You pick your handful and create a repeat list from the entire album and that becomes your mini album of the movie. So here is my mini album for this music album:
Paintra (Extended Version)
Mushkil Hai Apna Meil Priye
Bohot Dukha Mann

That is all I have for this album now. I hope you found it useful. If you did then stay connected with us on our social media pages. Until then, Ciao...!!
