Music Review | Tumhari Sulu | Guru Randhawa, Tanishk Bagchi and others

Good Morninggggggg Mumbai! The movie might be different but the use case is similar. Vidya Balan returns portraying another character of radio jockey. This time she's plain jane housewife with a chirpy personality and sexy voice. The reason I am talking about her is because my guess is that this entire album will be driven by her character. So let's get started with it!

Movie Release Date: 4th November 2017

Ban Ja Rani
Music Composer: Guru Randhawa, Rajat Nagpal
Singers: Guru Randhawa
Lyrics: Guru Randhawa
This is a soft and mellow song but at the same it is peppy. Guru Randhawa gives another hit song to Bollywood after Suit Suit. His singing in the song get a little bit annoying (just a little) with the auto tone. If you can ignore that, you are good to go. The original song has just guitar strums but this version has light beats and finger snaps. This song grew on me as I listened to it more. Not THIS version though, the original one.

Hawa Hawai 2.0
Music Composer: Tanishk Bagchi, Laxmikant-Pyarelal
Singers: Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shashaa Tirupati
Lyrics: Javed Akhtar
This is basically the remix version of the Hawa Hawai (Mr. India) with rap by Shashaa Tirupati. Too much of electronic beats ruined it for me. I like it when an old song is remade with a twist. There is no originality with this remix version. I would rather prefer to listen to Hawa Hawai (Shaitan) than this one.

Manva Likes To Fly
Music Composer: Tanishk Bagchi
Singers: Shalmali Kholgade
Lyrics: Vayu
A quirky song with Hinglish lyrics and dubstep beats. Shalmali's voice and the lyrics are very catchy and groovy. I felt the English phrases were force fed into lyrics. The song lasted shorter than I wanted to.

Farrata
Music Composer: Amartya Rahut "Bobo"
Singers: Armaan Malik, Adityan, Dev Arijit, Tushar Joshi
Lyrics: Siddhant Kaushal
The song came in like a storm and ended like a wildfire just like it's namesake. Armaan's voice sounds very mature around other child singers. The music composer Amartya Rahut has composed popular TV channel tunes in the past and has also been the composer for the movie Aurangzeb as well.

Rafu
Music Composer: Santanu Ghatak
Singers: Ronkini Gupta
Lyrics: Santanu Ghatak
The singer Ronkini Gupta is the vocalist of the music band Kheyaal-e-Jazz Projekt that is popular for blending Hindustani Classical forms and Popular Jazz songs. This song talks about how life is complete when we help each other and solve our problems together. The title rafu (darn) is a perfect metaphor for it. This is my favourite song of the album. Laze on your hammock and melt in this soothing song.

Having multiple music composers, this album does not drive the context of the movie as a whole, but each of the individual songs are unique and conveys a specific message. After an overflow of mainstream music, this album provides a fresh breath. Here are my favourites from the album:
Ban Ja Rani
Rafu

That is all I have for this album now. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!!
