Music Review | 2.0 | A. R. Rahman

Legendary Rajinikanth is back once again as Chitti the robot. The prequel was a blockbuster success and similar response is expected from across the country post the success of Baahubali. Though I was not a big fan of the music of the prequel, I am banking on A. R. Rahman to create magic with this one. So without further ado, let us get right into it!

Machines are literally taking over our world. They are supposedly capable of romancing now. This song is engineer's wet dream as well as nightmare. Being the song of the machines, the song is very heavy on electronic music and autotune. The key star in this song is Sashaa Tirupati. Her first four lines of the song are really catchy, repetitive  and is the only thing stuck in my head. In terms of being contextual, A. R. Rahman is bang on but in terms of the music and melody of the song, it is a forgettable one.

This is supposed to be the THEME song for the villain (Akshay Kumar). However, it falls flat in the lyrics department as well as the music department. Lyrics are amateurish not just in Hindi but also in Tamil and Telugu. The music doesn't spark fear and grandeur that is required to match up with Rajnikanth's persona.

S. Shankar, the director, has often been criticized to create huge albums and spend exorbitant amount of money on filming them which often distracts the audience from the central story of the movie. With this album, he did drastically cut down on the songs but once again, I don't see these songs adding any value to the story. Such kind of movies require background scores as part of their album than such mainstream songs. The movie is definitely going to be worth the watch. However, this album is not worth your time.

That is all I have for this album now. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!!
