Music Review | Dhanak | Tapas Relia
I understand this is a late review from my side. In my defence, I heard one of the songs two days back and it compelled me to write this review.
From what I saw in the trailers I am guessing there'll be a lot of folk music and lot of innocent lyrics since the movie is about two kids.
Alright, without further ado, let's get started and see whether this album provides a "Rainbow (Dhanak)" of songs or are they monotonous.

Jeene Se Bhi Zyada Jeeyein
Singer: Shivam Pathak
First thing you'll notice is Shivam's voice in this song is similar to Sukhwinder Singh. It is not necessarily a bad thing. You are soon forgotten by that once you are brought to notice the fusion of folk rustic vocals along with fast-paced guitar strums.
Chal Chalein
Singers: Papon, Vibha Saraf, Shivam Pathak
A failed attempt to try to many instruments in a single song. The percussion in the chorus could've been avoided.
Dum-A-Dum
Singers: Chet Dixon, Devu Khan Manganiyar
The little guy is so adorable...!! Devu Khan Manganiyar steals the song all the away. I am refreshingly surprised by how great this fusion sounds with English parts. Though, lyrics and genre of both portions are poles apart.
Dhanak
Singer: Monali Thakur
One cannot go wrong when you give a melody song to Monali Thakur. That's her forte. The song is so soothing that it can actually be used as a lullaby. Wait...!! This song is actually a lullaby :P
Mehandi
Singers: Anwar Khan Manganiyar, Swaroop Khan, Niyaz Khan
A Rajasthani folk song - Reggae style. I can sense the conflict - Rajasthani folk songs have fast beats whereas Reggae songs are laid back. A decent attempt though.
Theme to Dhanak
Singers: NA
An instrument track I am assuming will be used as background music in the movie. The cool thing about this track is it brings out the essence of the movie title - Dhanak. You can sense the dark times in the middle of the track which represents thunderstorms followed by a jovial music of ray of hope just like a rainbow.
A few songs definitely stood out. However, the point I am assuming is that this is not commercial film and all songs are purely situational or in background to take the story forward.
TOP 3 PICKS OF THE ALBUM:
1. Dum-A-Dum
2. Jeene Se Bhi Zyada Jeeyein
3. Dhanak
