[UPDATE: FULL ALBUM - 10 SONGS] Music Review | Tubelight | Pritam

Salman bhai comes just once a year (okay that did not sound very right, but you get it). This year he returns back as an innocent guy who is accompanied by a kid and the person he loves (Bajrangi Bhaijaan? rings any bell?). What I am looking forward to is Pritam's music after he backed out from the recently released Raabta. So without further ado, let's get started!

Album Release Date: 22nd June 2017

(Click on the song title to listen to it on Saavn)

Radio
Singers: Amit Mishra, Kamaal Khan
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
The song is about Salman Khan waiting next to radio to listen to the news about his brother who has gone on a war on the border. The situation is meant to be a serious one but the song manages to make is lively and happy. The lyrics are nothing spectacular to talk about since this song is all about Salman and his moves. If you enjoyed Selfie Le Le Re (Bajrangi Bhaijaan) then you will enjoy this.

Naach Meri Jaan
Singers: Nakash Aziz, Tushar Joshi, Kamaal Khan, Dev Negi
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
I had to listen to this song quite a few times to figure this out. This song faint similarity to Tukur Tukur (Dilwale). Maybe it is just the Pritam-Nakash-Amitabh trio that is making me feel that. I really liked the chorus "Naach meri jaan hoke magan tu, Chhod ke saare kintu parantu".

Tinka Tinka Dil Mera
Singers: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan
Lyrics: Kausar Munir
This song made me really sad. Kausar Munir really touched those emotional strings with the lyrics. The eerily sad part is not the chorus but the beginning of verses that have very minimal music. Expect tears rolling down your cheeks when it features during the movie.

Main Agar
Singers: Atif Aslam
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
The build up on this song towards the chorus is slow and amazing. I would love to listen to a proper rock version of this song with accentuated instruments.

Tinka Tinka Dil Mera (Film Version)
Singers: Jubin Nautiyal
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
This is the exact same song as the previous one. This one is sung by Jubin Nautiyal. I am usually not a big fan of such kind of duplication in a music album. I think the makers were confused which one to use since both of them sound equally amazing but they came to a conclusion that Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's voice draws more audience than Jubin so used that for promotions and Jubin's version in the movie.

To summarize it, pretty dud album from a high expectation movie. Tinka Tinka Dil Mera is the only one I really enjoyed apart from the Atif Aslam's Main Agar.

UPDATE: The music album was released after this post was published and it has a total of 10 songs. Below is the review for rest of the songs

Kuch Nahi
Singers: Javed Ali
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
This is an emotional song. However, the overpowering music did not let the emotions flow. The song starts of really well with just guitar strums. I would have loved if that was continued throughout the song.

Kuch Nahi (Reprised)
Singers: Shafqat Amanat Ali
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
Same song different singer. Same logic as Jubin's version of Tinka Tinka Dil Mera.

Kuch Nahi (Encore)
Singers: Papon
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
Oh wow! That bass voice of Papon is very distinctive. And that is what separates this version from the other two and this is the better of the other two. Other than that, same song different singer.

Main Agar (Film Version)
Singers: K. K.
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
Same song different singer. K. K. totally owned this song. While Atif's version is mellow, this one is a peppy track. I am surprised how different the film version is from the actual song.

Radio (Film Version)
Singers: Amit Mishra, Kamaal Khan
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
Spot the difference if you can. I'll give you a hint - look for the only stanza in the song ;)

One additional song and other five are just versions of the original ones. Kuch Nahi (Encore)  by Papon and Main Agar (K. K.) are the only ones worth exploring in an an album of confusing duplicates. Someone should have had deduped this album before releasing.

That is all I have for this album now. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!!
