Music Review | TVF Tripling (Web Series) | Amar Mangrulkar

And the final review of the triple music releases by TVF. TVF Tripling is my favourite web series by TVF so far and I was really looking forward to the music album. In case you've missed it, check out my review for
TVFHY: here
TVF Pitchers: here
TVF Permanent Roommates S2: here
Like I said it before and I repeat it again, I recommend (but not a compulsion) watching the web series first to get the context of the music as well as this review. Moreover, I highly doubt if you are reading this then you've not already watched it. So without further ado, let's get right into it!

Album Release Date: 21st February 2017

Original Soundtrack Available here: http://tvfplay.com/episode/1/130/154/885

Mada Faqa
Singers: Amar Mangrulkar
Lyrics: Kapil Sawant, Amar Mangrulkar
Runtime: 2 minutes 00 seconds
This song says it without explicitly spelling it out. Chitvan was my favourite sibling in the series and he has one song in the entire series to showcase his character as well as his profession has a DJ. And he doesn't screw it (pun intended). The amazing part about this song is not the title but how Hinglish rap portions are blended with Rajasthani lyrics. The most prominent verse to explain this is "Sa Ga Re Ma Ga Pa Ma Dha MaDa MaDa...... Mada Faqa padharo mhaare desh *rings bell*". And of course the icing on the cake is "Baba, You're beautiful!"

Kesariya Balam
Singers: Vijay Prakash, Mahathi Vijayprakash
Lyrics: Traditional
Runtime: 2 minutes 45 seconds
This is a traditional Rajasthani folk song. The title Kesariya Balam means 'Rajput lover'. The song is welcoming the Rajput lover to his land. This is not the first time this folk song has been used in mainstream media. It was also part of the movie Dor. The better part of it is that every version is quite different apart from the chorus.

Gone Gone Song
Singers: Surya Raguunathan, Amar Mangrulkar
Lyrics: Rajnigandha Shekhawat, Amar Mangrulkar
Runtime: 2 minutes 42 seconds
This song has a vibe of Slowly Slowly (Go Goa Gone) partly because of the song title and partly because of the style of singing of the female singer Surya (yes, female. Google helps sometimes!). The entire song is in English, except for the Rajasthani bits in between which I assume is sung by the one of the lyrics writer Rajnigandha.

Mera Sapna
Singers: Vivek Hariharan
Lyrics: Kapil Sawant
Runtime: 3 minutes 34 seconds
If you've not heard about Vivek Hariharan, let me give you a head's up. You are going to hear him more this year in Bollywood. First one being in Anushka Sharma's upcoming movie Phillauri. The song talks about how it doesn't matter how bad, good, impossible or insane the dream it. It is my dream after all. Definitely on my repeat list.

Rascal
Singers: Rajesh Krishnan, Hamsika Iyer
Lyrics: Rajesh Krishnan
Runtime: 2 minutes 06 seconds
I am going to make an assumption that this song is in Kannada. Please correct me if I am wrong. The singer and lyricist of this song is the director of TVF Tripling himself. He the creepy guy from this scene.
Being in Kannada, I was not able to comprehend most of the lyrics and hence I think I might have lost it.

Baambu
Singers: Amar Mangrulkar
Lyrics: Kapil Sawant
Runtime: 2 minutes 06 seconds
This is an amazing song if you have the context. Otherwise there is no point explaining this one. This, along with Mada Faqa, were few songs that actually remained in my head for a long time after the series ended.

Amma Puchchadi
Singers: Vivek Hariharan
Lyrics: Traditional
Runtime: 2 minutes 51 seconds
This is a traditional song from Himachal. In case you haven't heard it, Mohit Chauhan Silkroute had a version of it. I am starting to be a fan of Vivek Hariharan's soothing voice. The entire song is in pahadi language and is sung by a south Indian singer, speaks for it.

Jee Le Zindagi
Singers: Shaaze Merchant
Lyrics: Kapil Sawant
Runtime: 1 minute 45 seconds
Life is as simple as the elements of nature around us. Experience it to the fullest. A rather short song. I am hoping to hear this song again future seasons or maybe one of the sketches from TVF.

Albela Ghoda
Singers: Supati Ranjan Nayak
Lyrics: Kapil Sawant
Runtime: 1 minute 40 seconds
The song is a metaphor for all the mischiefs we do when nobody's watching us. Supati's singing is full of energy or should I say has lot of horsepower (pun intended, again). The lyrics are desi yet the music is of rock genre. I would've liked if the song lasted longer.

Ni Mannja
Singers: Jaspreet Jasz
Lyrics: Jaspreet Jasz
Runtime: 2 minutes 29 seconds
This sexist Punjabi song has no place in a web series about siblings shot in Rajasthan. When was this song even played in the series? This song can only be played while drinking and in club. And voila! That's when this song is being played in the background while all three siblings are drunk.

Going Home
Singers: Shaaze Merchant
Lyrics: Amar Mangrulkar
Runtime: 2 minutes 35 seconds
I resonated with this song the most. Living away from home, I truly know the feeling of excitement I have whenever I am visiting my parents at home. However, I would've liked if the lyrics were in Hindi/Hinglish.

Paheliyan
Singers: Paroma Dasgupta
Lyrics: Vaibhav Modi
Runtime: 3 minutes 54 seconds
The only other full-fledged song in the album apart from Mera Sapna. This song has a childlike innocence. The minimalistic instruments makes it really endearing. Even if I start singing this song in my coarse voice, it'll still sound melodious.

Tripling Theme - Instrumental
Runtime: 1 minute 46 seconds
After listening to amazing theme for other TVF series, this one is kind of underwhelming. I used to always skip it while watching the series.

This is by far the best and the most complete music album out of all the TVF web series. Amar Mangrulkar is a refreshing change from Vaibhav Bundhoo. A lot of the songs of the album will be on my repeat list for a really long time. So here are my favourites from the album:
Mada Faqa
Kesariya Balam
Mera Sapna
Amma Puchchadi
Paheliyan

That is all I have for this album. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album in the comments below. Until then, Be Beautiful Baba!!
