Music Review | Kaabil | Rajesh Roshan

The last time Rajesh Roshan composed music for a movie was four years back. The last time he gave a hit music album was seven years back. At the age of 61 and in the age of virality can he manage create music that are loved by the Kala Chashma and Kar Gayi Chull generation of listeners. I like to hope so. We'll only find out at the end of this review. So without further ado, let's get right into it!

Album Release Date: 22nd December 2016

Kaabil Hoon
Singer: Jubin Nautiyal, Palak Muchhal
Lyrics: Nasir Faraaz
Apart from the trumpet piece, the entire song feels like 2000s song. The best part of the song is the clean lyrics. I liked the song to some extent (not on my repeat mode though). Listen to this song if you want to feel the 2000s nostalgia.

Singer: Raftaar, Payal Dev
Lyrics: Kumaar
This song is a remake of Sara Zamana Haseeno Ka Deewana. Rajesh Roshan made a really good effort not to make it sound like a trash. Credit goes to Payal Dev too for energetic singing. The only part of the song that burnt my ears was the rap by Raftaar. Not that Raftaar is a bad rapper but majority of the times rap portions are totally unnecessary in the song.

Singer: Jubin Nautiyal
Lyrics: Manoj Muntashir
This is a really sweet love song with clean lyrics. This album is really exploring Jubin Nautiyal's romantic singing. The song didn't manage to grab my attention throughout the runtime though.

Singer: Vishal Dadlani
Lyrics: Manoj Muntashir
After a mellow start, the song picks up just like the chorus of Livin' La Vida Loca. You thought you learnt enough French with the music of Befikre, here is another song to show off your lousy French in front of your crush. The funniest moment in the song is just before the chorus when the lyrics goes like 'Zameen bole saari, Ra ra ri ra ri, Yeh deewangi ka hai shor, Mon amour'. Seems Mr. Dadlani forgot his lines during recording or maybe Rajesh Roshan forgot to replace the forgotten lines with actual lines during editing.

Singer: Jubin Nautiyal
Lyrics: Nasir Faraaz
Just a minute and half verse with touching lyrics. I died waiting for that dramatic pause during the chorus.

Singer: Jubin Nautiyal
Lyrics: Kumaar
Another remake of a Kishore Kumar song. This one is a remake of Dil Kya Kare Jab Kisi Se. Really disappointing recreation. Even Wajah Tum Ho had better Kishore Kumar remakes than this song and Rajesh Roshan is far more experienced than the ones who composed those songs.

You are at your free will. I will not stop you from listening to this album (some people are daredevil). Rajesh Roshan's music composition has come a long way since 1974 and is outdated now. Out of the six songs in this album, two of them are remakes and one of them is a sad version which means there are just three original compositions in this album. Nonetheless here is my only favourite from the album:
Haseeno Ka Deewana

That is all I have for this album. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!
