Music Review | 2.0 | A. R. Rahman

Image
Legendary Rajinikanth is back once again as Chitti the robot. The prequel was a blockbuster success and similar response is expected from across the country post the success of  Baahubali . Though I was not a big fan of the music of the prequel, I am banking on A. R. Rahman to create magic with this one. So without further ado, let us get right into it! Music Review | Golmaal Again !!! | Amaal Mallik and others

Image
So today we are going to review the music album of Golmaal.. Again? 😕 This is the fourth iteration in the mindless comedy franchisee by Rohit Shetty. The only song I recall from the previous movies is the tune for the title track (not even the song). With that kind of impact, I have very less expectations from this album. So let's get right into it! Movie Release Date: 6th October 2017 Listen to the album on: Saavn Gaana Wynk YouTube Golmaal Title Track Music Composer: Thaman. S  Singers: Amaal Mallik, Aditi Singh Sharma Lyrics: Kumaar I am surprised Thaman S., who mainly composes music in Telugu and Tamil, is the composer for this song. The one opportunity he gets is to composed a recycled tune. The entire song has  dhol  and  tasha  beats. The lyrics are mindless like the title tracks from the prequels. The song is much more bearable if you watch the  video  with all the vibrant colors and car stunts. Maine Tujhko D...

Music Review Catch-Up | July-September 2017

Image
While I was scooping for missed music albums for this quarter, I realized that I have missed a lot of albums which otherwise I would have loved to review them individually. But the time that is lost is gone. Looking ahead we have 12 albums that I will be catching up reviews on in this post. A lot of you readers might not be aware about some of these movies, hence I have provided IMDb links to plot summary. So without further ado, let's get right into it! (Songs highlighted in  RED  are my picks from the each album. You can just listen to these and get the feel of entire album in case you are short on time or feel like you have better things to do in life than listen to music) (Click on the movie name to listen to the songs on Saavn) Lipstick Under My Burkha Music: Zebunnisa Bangash Plot Summary:  IMDb Jigi Jigi is a qawwali that talks about the desires of women. It has a unique blend of Arabic-style of music and brass band. The song is sung by the composer...

Music Review | Judwaa 2 | Anu Malik, Sajid-Wajid, Sandeep Shirodkar, Meet Bros

Image
Now that I have lived nostalgia with the original album of  Judwaa , I think my body is ready for this one. Two of the four songs in this album are from the original. It will be interesting to see how interesting are the original new songs and at the same time how bearable are the remixed versions of old songs. So let's get right into it! Movie Release Date: 7th September 2017 Listen to the album on: Saavn Gaana Wynk YouTube Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12 Singers: Dev Negi, Neha Kakkar Lyrics: Dev Kohli The male portion (basically entire song) feels like it is a musical cover to the original song. The background choir is awful. The electronic music piece to showcase Varun's dance skill is totally unrequired. This song doesn't have a very important line from the original - 'Govinda hai hero uska aur Madhura heroine hai. Pichali Sit Ki Do Tikate Hain Gup Chup Pyar Karenge Yaara.'  What could have made the song better was more of Neha Kakkar's singing but of...

Music Mention | Judwaa (1996) | Anu Malik

Image
What better way to reminiscence old music than just before reviewing the remake of it. It took me a long time to digest the fact that it has been 21 years since the release of this movie. I was in kindergarten back then. Throughout my school and college life we used to jam on the songs of this movie. I have watched this movie so many times that I have dialogues memorized by now. Salman Khan used to ACT back then and he was my favourite. Moreover, the Anu Malik songs we cringe to today, were chartbusters back then and have a cult following. For those who are new to Beats and Beyond or need a reminder, this is a special case of my music reviews. It is more of a music mention than a review. I liked something and I want others to be aware of it too. This is the blog version of  Music Talk series  on my  YouTube channel . Movie Release Date: 7th February 1996 Listen to the album on: Saavn Gaana Wynk YouTube Duniya Mein Aaye Singers: Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kumar S...
