Music Review | Befikre | Vishal-Shekhar

I feel like an idiot every time ranting about how a lot a movies these days are releasing their music album just few days prior to it's release. Nonetheless, just as other such music albums I am expecting it to have a few chartbusters and a soulful number. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't be reviewing it. So, without further ado, let's get into it.

Nashe Si Chadh Gayi
Singer: Arijit Singh
Lyrics: Jaideep Sahni
This song is as trippy as the name suggests. The lyrics are free spirited as a kite like mentioned in the song. In some portions of the song, Arijit's voice sounds like Adnan Sami. The fast paced lyrics before the chorus doesn't make any sense (as if the entire movie is going to make any). Despite the flaws, the song did not burn my ears and is a nice groove to dance on.

Singer: Benny Dayal
Lyrics: Jaideep Sahni
I didn't notice the French lyrics before even though it was more extensively used in the previous song. The French portions of this song not do convey anything but such is the beauty of French language, everything sounds poetic. Benny Dayal brings in ton of energy into this song as usual. If you thought the lyrics of previous song represented free spiritedness, then this song takes it a  couple of notches further.

Singer: Vishal Dadlani, Sunidhi Chauhan
Lyrics: Jaideep Sahni
A rather ironic title to what the song is actually about. The song faintly reminded me of Pyaar Ki Yeh Kahani (Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.). The song doesn't say anything much apart from 'Never Say I Love You' in French repeated in loop. Even though I said French language is poetic, after a while it does irritate me to listen to same words in loop (nostalgia of omelette du fromage, anybody?)

Singer: Nikhil D'souza, Rachel Varghese
Lyrics: Jaideep Sahni
What are you looking for? Keep moving on. Nothing significant here. Go down, you might find something better than you and me.

Singer: Papon
Lyrics: Jaideep Sahni
It surprises me how the same album with the music director and lyricist can have polar opposite songs in terms of music or lyrics. Or maybe it's just Papon! To certain extent, yes. But this song has beautiful lyrics. Well, lyrics are just metaphors of love (tried and tested formula) but combined with the music it creates a melody. Definitely my favourite of the album!

Singer: Gippy Grewal, Harshdeep Kaur
Lyrics: Jaideep Sahni
*sigh* stereotypical Punjabi wedding song. Spare yourself from template music.

This song is an instrumental mashup of all the songs in the album. A lot of movies release full fledge mashup of the albums after few weeks of the album release. It is nice to see something different in terms of mashup. However, they should've gone with a regular mashup instead of just instrumental. The reason being, this album's strength are its lyrics.

A run-of-the-mill album with expected settings. Nonetheless, I will definitely listen to this probably short-lived album. Here are my favourites:
Nashe Si Chadh Gayi
Ude Dil Befikre
Labon Ka Karobaar

That is all I have for this album. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album or if you have any suggestions/feedback - in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!
