Music Review Catch Up | June-December 2016 | Te3n, Madaari, Fever, Pink, Parched, Force 2, Kahaani 2

It is year end and I was rounding up the music for this year and realized that I've missed a few of the music albums of popular movies. Some of these were already requested by readers as standalone reviews but due to time crunch I was not able to. I take full responsibility for that and apologize. This will be my music review catch up of all the music albums (well, not all. Few handpicked) released since June until now. So without further ado, let's get started!

Pick of the individual albums are highlighted in RED
(Click on the movie title to play it on Saavn)

Te3n
Music Director: Clinton Cerejo
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya

Listen on YouTube
Haq Hai is a soulful song with beautiful lyrics. I wish the chorus didn't have choir recitation instead only Clinton had sung it.
Rootha got me grooving as the song progressed. 'The world is against me' has been conveyed in a very peppy way.
Kyun Re This made my wandering my mind sit down take notice of the surrounding in slow motion. Amitabh Bachchan's version of this song is really sad and heart touching. I dare not listen to it twice.
Grahan has a dull start but gradually catches up with with the mood and pace. Still didn't quite manage to catch my attention

Madaari
Music Director: Vishal Bhardwaj, Sunny-Inder Bawra
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil

This album has just two songs.
Dama Dama Dam is a mirror showing the current situation of the society. Vishal Dadlani does a great job in bringing the energy to the song.
Masoon Sa.You would never expect a soft and slow song from Sukhwinder Singh. Even with such a mellow song there are portions where he hits those high notes.
Loved this album. Wish I had heard and reviewed it earlier.

Fever
Music Director: Rahul Bhatt, Tanishk Bagchi, Tony Kakkar, Rahul Jain, Shamir Tandon, Ranjit Barot, Faizan Hussain - Agnel Roman, Onesia
Lyrics: Rahul Bhatt, A.M. Turaz, Tony Kakkar, Rahul Jain, Subrat Sinha, Rajeev Jhaveri, Pancchi Jalonvi, Arun Kumar, Onesia

Listen on YouTube
Bas Ek Baar really average and forgettable song by Arijit Singh. My attention kept wandering throughout the song
Besambhle Why is Arijit Singh singing such songs. Doesn't even sound like him.
Mile Ho Tum the song is good but Tony Kakkar is stressing his vocal chords too much.
Kharaa Kharaa is trying to be innocent and naughty at the same time. Stop confusing me girl!
Teri Yaad I don't know who Rahul Jain is but he deserves more opportunities and this song definitely is worth multiple listens.
Nahi Nahi nice jazz song. The song kinda sounds like Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom Baba
Kuch Is Tarah Ummm... Skip it? Yeah
Kya Kasak Skip it!
Mujhme Kabhi Yup. keep on skipping!
Look Look Stop!! Don't skip this. This is a different kind of song. Live band music with English lyrics. Kudos for the experimentation
D'Accord It's international music genre. I am not very familiar with it so won't impose my ignorance
Carried Away Close your eye and take the soothing music in.
Mile Ho Tum (Reprise) The duet version sounds so much better with Sonu Kakkar.
Teri Yaad (Unplugged) Stick to the original version. This one is too slow
Dil Ashkon Mein Saved the best song for the last. The singing chemistry between the Kakkar siblings is just perfect in this one.

Pink
Music Director: Faiza Mujahid, Shantanu Moitra, Anupam Roy
Lyrics: Faiza Mujahid, Tanveer Ghazi, Anupam Roy, Irshad Kamil

Listen on YouTube
Jeenay De Mujhe Totally refreshing song. Hopefully this song gives Faiza Mujahid more opportunities just like Jasleen Royal got after her first song.
Kaari Kaari Another gem we've found - Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch. Nice deep vocals and mesmerizing lyrics. I wish she was given more Urdu lyrics than Hindi. This song deserves so many awards but unfortunately will go unnoticed.
Tujhse Hi Hai Roshni This song should've not been in this movie. It doesn't fit well with the theme of the movie. Nonetheless it is a nice song and would've been popular if it was part of some other movie.
Pink another unnecessary song. I feel this is just included as a commercial selling point
Tu Chal this is is beautiful poem recited by Amitabh Bachchan and penned by Irshad Kamil.

Parched
Music Director: Hitesh Sonik
Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire

Listen on YouTube
Mai Ri Mai This song is about the free-spirited nature of girls and their thoughts on how they feel suffocated in the societal pressure and etiquettes.
Bhookamp I was just laughing throughout the song. It's a sleazy song if you have no context about the movie. Fortunately I am reviewing this music album after watching the movie.
Kachhuva Again a very sleazy song but within the context and theme of the movie makes perfect sense.
Baisaa Traditional Rajasthani wedding song. It talks praises of the boy (because, the society is patriarchal)
Hichki  Another contextual folk song

Force 2
Music Director: Amaal Mallik, Gourov Roshin
Lyrics: Kumaar, Rashmi Virag

Listen on YouTube
Rang Laal Skip the initial commentary by John Abraham. Well, there's a commentary in the middle of the song too, just skip that too. Listen to it just for the chorus, if you have too much time in hand.
O Janiya Oh God!! Why did I listen to this. 😓😢 Such a crappy remake of Kate Nahin Kat Te (Mr. India)
Ishaara Typical Armaan Malik template
Catch Me If U Can A failed attempt by Amaal Mallik to be Vishal Dadlani

Kahaani 2
Music Director: Clinton Cerejo
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya

Listen on YouTube
Mehram Templaye Arijit Singh number
Lamho Ke Rasgulle *sigh* smh. Just skip it!
Aur Main Khush Hoon It's the little things in life that makes us happy. Sweet peppy number played on ukelele.
Anandoloke Equally soothing sequel to Ekla Cholo Re (Kahaani)

Wow! All these music albums were a box of assorted chocolates. You like some you dislike some. Nonetheless, it is the fun of assortment that makes you try it in the first place. So here are my collective favourites from all these album which you should be listening to at least if not the entire album:
Rootha
Masoom Sa
Kaari Kaari
Mai Ri Mai

That is all I have for this album. I hope you found this review useful. If you did then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album or if you have any suggestions/feedback - in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!
