Music Review | Baar Baar Dekho | Jasleen Royal, Amaal Mallik, Arko, Bilal Saeed, Badshah

From the list of the songs and artists involved, it looks like the album has a lot of diverse genre of music. I will only know once I listen to it. So, without further ado, let's get into it and see if this album can make me listen to its songs baar baar or it's just a one-song wonder.

Kho Gaye Hum Kahan
Music : Jasleen Royal
Lyrics : Prateek Kuhad
Singers : Jasleen Royal & Prateek Kuhad
This song made me feel detached from my surroundings. Guitar pickings is the only music to the song. Jasleen's baby voice makes the song innocent. In order to match her voice Prateek Kuhad also has sung it in a soft voice. The song talks about two people getting away into their imaginary world. The song ends with whistling tune which gives it a perfect ending as I can imagine both of them holding their hands and walking away from the camera (not sure how the actual video would be)

Music : Amaal Mallik
Lyrics : Kumaar
Singers : Armaan Malik, Neeti Mohan
The song begins with what sounds like a banjo but is probably a mix of banjo and guitar. As soon as the chorus, the first thing that came to my mind was - Buddhu Sa Mann (Kapoor and Sons). Are the Malllik & Malik duo running out of music ideas? Only time will tell and I hope it doesn't turn out that way. With the kind of lyrics the chorus has, it feels like the singer has found redemption in loving someone.

Music : Arko
Lyrics : Arko
Singers : Arko
"I've spend a lot of time and effort looking for him. He's come to me now. I don't wanna cross the oceans anymore."
What I liked in this song was that every time "Oh Dariya" came in the chorus, Arko sung it in a different style, almost being unpredictable. This is one of the dark horses of the album. The lyrics could've been a bit more elaborate. I felt that the song ended just when the mood was setting in.

Music : Jasleen Royal
Lyrics : Aditya Sharma
Singers : Jasleen Royal, Harshdeep Kaur, Siddharth Mahadevan
After long time we have a sangeet song. The last one I heard was Daingad (Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya). While Harshdeep and Siddharth provide the power and energy in the song throughout, Jasleen provides the occasional breeze of innocence.

The next two are basically a remake of existing popular Punjabi songs. However,  I'll try to be as much unbiased as possible.

Music : Bilal Saeed
Lyrics : Kumaar
Singers : Bilal Saeed
Original Song: Khair Mangdi
Bilal Saeed sings it as smooth as butter which is probably the reason you won't feel the hard-hitting emotional lyrics so much unless you carefully pay attention to them. I listened to the original song after listening to this version. I can definitely say this one is better (which is not always the case). The original song now sounds like a remixed version.

Music : Originally Composed by: Prem Hardeep & Recreated By: Badshah
Lyrics : Amrik Singh, Kumaar
Singers : Amar Arshi, Badshah, Neha Kakkar, Indeep Bakshi
What do I say about this song? This song was released even before the trailer of the movie was launched and as expected immediately went viral. This is not meant for listening, it is meant for dancing. Badshah nailed it with his rap portions *clap clap clap*. I don't know what was more irresistible in the female portions - the lyrics, Neha Kakkar's singing or imagining Katrina showing off her moves. :P

I am not a big fan of music albums that have multiple music composers. Majority of the times, the variation in the genre of songs ruins the mood of the movie. However, not this one. I loved this album. It is full of surprises. So, here are my favourites from the album:
Kho Gaye Hum Kahan
Dariya
Teri Khair Mangdi
Kala Chashma

That is all I have for this album. I hope you found this review useful. If you do then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album or if you have any suggestions/feedback - in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!
