Music Review | Qaidi Band | Amit Trivedi

Image
Five years after Ishaqzaade, YRF brings in another movie with newcomers. Amit Trivedi, once again, is given the mantle to win audiences' hearts with the music. What is more interesting is that this movie is about music, which means Amit Trivedi gets to go all in with this one. So without further ado, let us get right into it! Album Release Date: 25th July 2017 (Click on the song title to listen to it on Saavn) I Am India Singers: Arijit Singh, Yashita Sharma Lyrics: Habib Faisal There is so much confusion online regarding the singer of this song. The voice does not sound like Arijit Singh at all but more like Amit Trivedi. But at this point in time, all we can do is take the information at it's face value. This is a patriotic song without the in-your-face persuasive lyrics. Talking about lyrics, it touches all the corners and colors of India. For the first time, I enjoyed someone else's singing more than Arijit's. Yashita Sharma totally nailed this song. Bo...

Music Review | Jagga Jasoos | Pritam

Image
I watched the movie last week and was totally taken by surprise. *spoiler alert* The entire movie is musical i.e. apart from the regular songs, a lot of dialogues are poetic as well. This has increased my excitement to review this album. However, looking at the number of songs in the album, I am certain that those musical conversations are not part of this one and probably will be released later. So without further ado, let's get started. Album Release Date: 20th July 2017 (Click on the song title to listen to it on Saavn) Ullu Ka Pattha Singers: Arijit Singh, Nikhita Gandhi Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya The catchphrase " Ullu le, Ullu le" is still stuck in my head even a week after watching the movie. The song has just one stanza and left me wanting for more of this chirpiness. The flamenco guitar in the beginning gives a feel of wanderlust. The song talks about how stupid and day dreamer our heart is. The song ends with a fade on Arijit Singh's aalap. ...

Music Review Catch Up | April-June 2017

Image
It is interesting that out of the seven music albums to catch up in this quarter, three of them are based on parent-child relationship including two with mothers. Two of the other movies are based on other family ties. A lot of you readers might not be aware about some of these movies, hence I have provided IMDb links to plot summary. So without further ado, let's get right into it! (Songs highlighted in  RED  are my picks from the each album. You can just listen to these and get the feel of entire album in case you are short on time or feel like you have better things to do in life than listen to music) (Click on the movie name to listen to the songs on Saavn) Maatr Music: Fuzon, Kavita Seth Plot Summary:  IMDb Zindagi Ae Zindagi is entirely in midscale (lower and upper) which leaves less variation in terms of the emotional feel in the song. The song is too long for my taste (8 minutes) Aisi Hoti Hai Maa started beautifully with mellow music and Kavita Set...

YouTube Discovery | Ep. 08 | Sandeep Thakur - Violin Covers

Image
Salman Khan popularized guitar (and thus air guitar ) with Oh Oh Jaane Jaana in 1998 Shahrukh Khan popularized violin with Mohabbatein, two years later, in 2000 Popularity of guitar have skyrocketed since then but violins have been highly underrated. And by popularity I mean learners and not listeners. People generally tend to learn a musical instrument in the hype of it, which fades away after a few weeks of struggle[1] . Guitars are way more easier than violins. Not just for the learners, but also on the ears of the listeners while you are learning. For someone like me, who enjoys singing, guitar became my go-to instrument in college. Being left handed, I still went ahead and picked a right handed guitar, because someone (stupid) told me that I should start learning with right handed first and eventually I will be able to play with my natural hand. Till date, I have never tried playing guitar left handed. The reason that I am talking about a guitar story proves it further...

Music Review | Munna Michael | Tanishk Bagchi, Gourov-Roshin, Meet Bros and others

Tiger Shroff returns to show off his dancing skills, yet again. So that is the only expectation from this album - good catchy dance numbers. Without wasting much time, let us get started! Album Release Date: 21st June 2017 (Click on the song title to listen to it on Saavn) Main Hoon Music Composer: Tanishk Bagchi Singers: Siddharth Mahadevan Lyrics: Kumaar This is such a narcissistic song. This song has an electronic music. I was listening to this song passively and all I can remember is the self-appreciating chorus. These two pointers made me go and watch the video and thus I can safely infer that this is a dance number and not a listen-to song. Ding Dang Music Composer: Javed - Mohsin Singers: Amit Mishra, Antara Mitra Lyrics: Danish Sabri, Sabbir Khan Hahahahaha. I am laughing so hard at the chorus right now. This is one of those songs with weird lyrics. If you enjoyed the lyrics of  Breakup Song (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)  then you wi...
