Music Review | Ki & Ka | Meet Bros, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Mithoon, Ilayaraja

After Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein Kareena Kapoor (Khan?) returns with yet another romantic comedy (with a tinge of drama). She is maintaining the legacy of the Khans in the hindi film industry to be casted against young co-actors. On the other hand, Arjun Kapoor seems to moving towards mature content in terms of his co-actors - from Alia Bhatt in 2 States to Deepika in Finding Fanny to Sonakshi in Tevar and now Kareena.

My review below will be unbiased by any of the above facts and will be biased towards good music. *fingers crossed*

High Heels
Singers: Meet Bros, Jaz Dhami, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Aditi Singh Sharma
Lyrics: Kumaar, Yo Yo Honey Singh
Genre: Loop-it Punjabi Party song that'll be played in 'big fat Punjabi weddings'

The song goes like this 'High heel di nache tu badi jache' which means 'you look pretty when you dance wearing high heels'... Ahem ahem... So this song takes it's 'inspiration' from the original song that took an 'inspiration' from Saif Ali Khan's retro track Jab bhi koi ladki dekhoon mera dil deewana bole, Ole Ole. The reason I say inspiration is because despite the chorus and artists being same, this is a different song on its own. It is a really catchy track and you wouldn't mind dancing even if it played on endless loop. Expect the same in the clubs of Delhi/Chandigarh and Mumbai.

Ji Huzoori
Singers: Mithoon, Deepali Kishore
Lyrics: Sayeed Quadri
Genre: 'Don't ask for/do any favours' Love Song

This song depicts a really complex emotion that everybody faces in relationships. To simplify and put that - 'I can't live with you and I can't without you'. The conflict between brain and heart. Brain just wants to prove your partner wrong but heart wants to forgive, forget and make up. Such thoughts and emotions are difficult to put it in words and Sayeed Quadri somehow manages to achieve it. Mithoon does a wonderful job of giving justice to his lyrics. Deepali Kishore is merely a backing vocals in the song. This might easily turn out to be my favourite song of the album.

Most Wanted Munda
Singers: Meet Bros, Earl Edgar
Lyrics: Kumaar
Genre: Protagonist showing-off his skills song

So you got a song on the lead actress, you got a song on her relationship with the lead actor who is a house-husband in the film. Now you definitely need to dedicate a song for the lead actor praising his household chore skills that would make other wives jealous. Easily THE forgettable song in the album.

Foolishq
Singers: Shreya Ghoshal, Armaan Malik
Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya
Genre: Soft music, mesmerizing backdrop love song

Did you liked Ishq Wala Love? Do you know what it means? Nothing. Do you care? No. Why? Because it's a romantic song and its melodious. Same applies here. Foolishq might not mean anything (well if you rack your brain hard then it may mean 'foolish love' or 'crazy love'), but when you have Shreya Ghoshal singing, words just piggyback on her soulful voice. She sang the song Zoobie Doobie which means nothing but describes something. That is the magic her voice and Ilayaraja's music does in this song.

Pump It (Workout Song)
Singers: Meet Bros, Yash Narvekar
Lyrics: Kumaar
Genre: The GYM song

Well, another song for the lead actor *sigh*. Fortunately, I like this one. It's hard not to get motivated when the song says pump it. Had this been an actual motivation song a little deeper voice for the singer would have suited better. So where did this seriousness in building up motivation go wrong in the song? Chorus.
Pump it, pump it, pum-pa
Pump it, pump it, pum-pa
Dil ye kare shout (x2)
This is the chorus. If you still don't know how to sing this part without listening to the actual song, just go and listen to 'what the fox is saying'

Kabir Most Wanted Munda
Singers: Meet Bros Anjjan, Palak Muchhal, Arjun Kapoor
Lyrics: Kumaar
Genre: Narcissism

People complimenting you was not enough so you make another song where you are bragging about yourself. Save me please. This song deserves no more space in this article

TOP 3 PICKS:
1. Ji Huzoori
2. High Heels
3. Foolishq

Consolation: NA

That is all I have for this album. I hope you liked this review. If you do then feel free to share it. Let me know you favourite song of the album or if you have any suggestions/feedback - in the comments below. Until then, Ciao...!
